Mustangs Learn to Run with the Rhinos

Coach Brown
Taft School's thirds team sweeps Millbrook's JV squad in display of strategy and poise.
On Wednesday Millbrook played host to the Taft Rhinos, fielding 11 of our 12 players (Buchholz ill) in what turned out to be 11 lost matches. Millbrook's players in many cases met their foes with grit and determination, but overall the sway fell to Taft.

In a post-match meeting, Millbrook players identified areas that the Rhinos had excelled in and made plans for moving ahead. The bottom line: You can't practice the basics enough (hitting and returning serves, hitting rails, keeping the ball along the wall, etc). Echoes of Mr. Thom's mantra, anyome? "DO SIMPLE BETTER." It was a display of good sportsmanship and a positive attitude in the face of what otherwise could have been a challenging moment for these young men.

In the story, "The Beast", Angela Carter writes that "the tiger will never lie down with the lamb...the lamb must learn to run with the tigers." The same could be said of Millbrook's match against Taft. It seems that, going ahead, the Mustangs will work hard to learn how to run with the Rhinos.
