Millbrook took the field Wednesday against a very powerful Wilbraham team and emerged 90 minutes later with a 1 – 1 tie. The first half was a see-saw affair in which each side pushed the opponent hard in search of a weakness. As a result of the superb play of MacTavish, Benjamin, Harvey and Parent, Millbrook controlled the midfield, though the game remained scoreless at the half. Wilbraham stormed out at the start of the second half and Millbrook had its hands full to weather this assault. Brundrett played exceptionally well in net to hold off the Titans. With about ten minutes played, Baldo worked himself free in front of the net and potted Millbrook’s only goal. Wilbraham mounted a fearsome counterattack which resulted in Bronner’s goal five minutes later. Although Wilbraham had the better chances in the waning minutes, Millbrook’s defense bent but did not break. The group played inspired, disciplined soccer, stymieing Wilbraham’s powerful offense. Brundrett continued to make impressive saves to preserve the tie. The Mustangs treated the home crowd to an exceptional show of hard-nosed and poised play, demonstrating the group’s pluck and determination against a superb opponent.
