Millbrook vs. Hotckiss Scrimmage

Sean Spero
The varsity field hockey team opened its season with a win over the Hotchkiss JV squad in an exhibition match. The Mustangs dominated the game offensively, taking 13 shots on goal to Hotchkiss’ three. Millbrook also owned the penalty corner category, 6-2. Despite many close chances, particularly at the end of the first half and most of the second, the Mustangs couldn’t quite get the ball past the Hotchkiss goalkeeper until the last five minutes of play. Hillary Kane (V) took a quick free hit and rocketed the ball into the circle, where captain Mimi Anthony (VI) redirected it into the corner of the cage for the game-winner. Mary Rose Morrison and Jane Maglaque combined for the shutout in goal for Millbrook. The Mustangs will take on Ethel Walker in their regular season opener.
