Saturday’s contest with Williston did not turn out the way we had hoped it would. Our opponents from Massachusetts were skilled, physical and determined. We started slowly, gave up a goal on a corner in the 7th minute and struggled to find our rhythm. Williston out-muscled, out-passed and outshot us all half long. We regrouped at the break and took the field with renewed determination. Our play improved, and we earned our own chances to score. We finished the game feeling a little better about our performance while realizing we need to make some adjustments before Wednesday’s trip to Wilbraham and Monson.
There were bright spots over the course of the afternoon. Ethan Cott earned the game card for his tireless effort and determination in the midfield. Ricker came on in the first half as a central defender and played the best soccer of his season, to date. Stark and Mohammed were everywhere in the offensive third, pressing the opposition and earning chances to score. Schwartz returned to the midfield and ran well all game long.
