Millbrook faces a tough and experienced opponent against Gunnery
J.P. LaCosse
With no help from the cold and rainy weather, Millbrook faced an experienced Gunnery team on Saturday. Millbrook started off with some movement down the field, and kept Gunnery in check for about half the first quarter. Missed tackles on defense led to Gunnery scoring first and then kept the lead for the rest of the game. Dropped snaps with a wet ball and missed blocks on offense kept Millbrook from scoring. Millbrook's best chance to score came in the 4th quarter where they mounted a solid drive down the field and made it to the Gunnery 6 yard line before faltering. Gunnery took possession and a couple plays later, lost the ball on a fumble which gave Millbrook a final chance of scoring, but a hit on Millbrook QB Will Hou by a Gunnery rusher before Hou could pass the ball led to the end of the game. Millbrook did not give up and impressed many on their determination and heart to play on, despite the score. Mustang of the week was chosen by the coaches to be Tahrieq Koonce for his solid defensive play and textbook tackles, and tough offensive play on the line and in the backfield. One of the Gunnery coaches said that he was impressed by the team's sportsmanship despite the outcome of the game.
