Jacob Pyne Feinberg ’95 wanted to spend more time at Millbrook, so he found ways to stay overnight whenever he could.

As a day student in the early 1990s, that meant saying yes to almost everything: theater tech, yearbook, newspaper, athletics, whatever kept him on campus longer. What started as a practical excuse to stay with friends eventually became the foundation of his career.

On the upper floor of the Barn during this time in the 90s was the stage and theater space. There, Jacob found himself drawn not to the spotlight, but to the technical side of performance—the cables, the soundboards, the invisible systems shaping what audiences experienced. “That is literally the start of the rest of my life,” he says. “Being tech crew for theater was my entry into it all.”

Since then, Jacob has spent 26 years touring professionally as a sound engineer, production manager, and tour manager for artists around the world. He has worked with bands on tour, ranging from indie clubs to arenas, traveling constantly between North America, Europe, and Asia, designing and managing the sound behind live performances for thousands of fans each night.
