Kent and Ethel Walker best Millbrook overall; Sassatelli sets a record for the ages
Coach Havard
Millbrook raced with a reduced squad on Saturday, Oct. 24, and while the Mustangs lost both races overall, individual times continued to improve. The big story was Andy Sassatelli's incredible 18:21 for our home course, breaking the women's record that had stood for 20 years by over 30 seconds!
Near perfect racing conditions led to Sassatelli's run for the ages. She went out hard in 5:45, already opening up a signficant lead on the rest of the field. By the time she emerged from the woods for the final half mile, we knew she was going for the record. The crowd was with Andy as she crossed the finish, shattering the record set by Berkshire's Allison Letourneau back in 2006. Next in for Millbrook was Trinity Robinson, besting her time on our home course a few weeks ago by 39 seconds. Mallory Cassidy took third for Millbrook with a phenomenal finish, showing herself what she can do, and eager for the next opportunity. Anya Kelmanovich and Emily Goico came in six seconds apart, at significantly stronger times than their last race on our course. All in all, a great day for Millbrook running!
