Millbrook is known for developing hockey talent, regularly sending athletes to top NCAA schools. Now, two former Mustangs have found their way into the pros to chase their NHL dreams.

Zach Bookman ’20 and Jake Percival ’21 both inked contracts with ECHL teams this month. Zach joined Indiana’s Fort Wayne Komets, which are affiliated with the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers. Jake headed to South Carolina to play for the Greeneville Swamp Rabbits, the Los Angeles Kings’ ECHL affiliate, providing reinforcement as they began a stretch of four games in five days.

After Millbrook, Zach matriculated to Merrimack, playing for the Warriors for three years before transferring to Western Michigan University for his senior year. The defenseman blocked 144 shots in his college career while netting 16 goals and 63 assists. He tallied his first professional assist in Fort Wayne’s final game of the regular season.

Jake played all four years of his college hockey career at the University of Connecticut. A forward, he racked up 25 goals and 32 assists in 138 games played for the Huskies. He found the back of the net in his second game with the Swamp Rabbits for his first professional goal:
