Millbrook soccer phenom Shakur (Shak) Mohammed ’21 will take the pitch for a new team when the MLS soccer season kicks off in February. Nashville SC announced on Wednesday that the team had acquired Mohammed in a trade with Orlando City SC for a third-round draft pick.
A midfielder, Mohammed spent most of last season with Orlando City B (MLS NEXT Pro), scoring 11 goals in 27 appearances. He’s appeared in five matches with Orlando’s First Team since joining the squad in 2023.
“Shak is a talented attacking player who has been a bright prospect in college and in MLS NEXT Pro, and we are excited to see him continue to grow into his potential with us here in Nashville,” said Nashville SC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Mike Jacobs in an article on the team’s website.
Mohammed came to Millbrook from Kumasi, Ghana, through the Right to Dream program. After graduating in 2021, he played college ball with the Duke Blue Devils. Two seasons later, he was selected 2nd overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft by Orlando City.
During his time as a Mustang, he helped win the 2018 NEPSAC Class C soccer championship. He was also a standout in the classroom and was inducted into Millbrook’s Cum Laude Society in 2021.
Keep an eye out for Mohammed when Nashville takes the pitch on Feb. 17 against Ottawa in the first round of the CONCACAF Champions Cup!
