Alum Accepts Tuscany’s Prestigious Pegaso d’Oro
On Monday, Millbrook alum Giuseppe B. Commisso ’00 accepted the Pegaso d’Oro (The Golden Pegasus)—the highest official honor awarded by the government of Tuscany, Italy—on behalf of his Serie A football club ACF Fiorentina. The club received the award for reaching its 100th year as an organization.
Giuseppe and Fiorentina join an illustrious list of Golden Pegasus recipients that includes world leaders, cultural icons, and other renowned organizations. The award caps weeks of celebration of the team’s centennial, which included the issuing of a commemorative stamp by the Italian government in July and a post-match celebration in August attended by Millbrook Head of School Jonathan Downs ’98, Erin Downs, and Board of Trustees Chairman William Menard ’78, P ’09 ’12, ’12.

In addition to celebrating 100 years of history, ACF Fiorentina’s U20 team won the Primavera 1 Championship in May. The main club finished just above relegation at 15th in Serie A in 2025–2026, and they’re currently stuck in the same spot four matches into this season. But their success at the youth level signals better days ahead. As Giuseppe said on Instagram after a recent Serie A ceremony honoring Fiorentina’s 100th year:
“We celebrate our past with pride, yet we look to the future with an even greater sense of responsibility and ambition. Thank you to everyone who built these first 100 years. Now, let us build the next 100 together.”
