Millbrook Gives Thanks

At this time of year, students and faculty alike anticipate a much-needed break from the rigors of boarding school life for the Thanksgiving holiday. But first, we pause to express gratitude at the Thanksgiving Service in the Flagler Memorial Chapel.

A sacred school tradition, the Thanksgiving Service is a time to reflect on the blessings received throughout the year. The formal ceremony embodies what makes Millbrook, Millbrook—a deep sense of community that connects students and faculty past and present.

Students communicated their thanks through readings and musical performances. Strains of the school hymn, “For the Beauty of the Earth,” filled the chapel at the close of the service, inviting all gathered to be truly present and grateful for each moment and each other.

Formal dinner followed the service, and the community dug into a traditional Thanksgiving feast that was almost as good as the conversation and laughter it facilitated. Fostered by tradition, these are the moments that will live forever in the hearts of students as they head off to change the world beyond the Millbrook campus.

Here’s a small taste of what Millbrook has to be thankful for so far this school year:
