Millbrook School has produced some amazing soccer players over the years, perhaps none better than Ousseni Bouda ’19 and Shakur (Shak) Mohammed ’21. Both forwards have earned spots in Major League Soccer—Ousseni with the San Jose Earthquakes and Shak with Nashville FC—and they made history on Saturday as the first two Millbrook alumni to face each other in an MLS match.
Unfortunately, the two stars weren’t on the field at the same time, as Shak started and came off at the half for Nashville and Ousseni entered the game in the 67th minute. However, both came away with a point, as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The match featuring two Millbrook alumni speaks to the quality of the boarding school’s soccer program, which won its seventh NEPSAC championship last season. As Ousseni and Shak compete at the highest level of U.S. professional soccer, recent alumni are playing in college at NCAA Division I schools like UCLA, Holy Cross, and Temple.
For their part, Ousseni and Shak are making major contributions in MLS, giving scouts all the more reason to check in on Millbrook’s Mustangs each season. Ousseni has started 23 of San Jose’s 29 games, scoring six goals and adding four assists. Shak has started seven games for Nashville, contributing four goals and two assists. The duo’s stellar play has helped their squads to success, as Nashville currently sits atop the Eastern Conference with a comfortable 12-point lead over Messi’s Inter Miami, and the Earthquakes are in fourth place in the West, just seven points behind conference-leading Vancouver.
Nashville is back in action on Oct. 24 at 1:30 pm with a home match against Montreal. The Earthquakes also take the pitch on Oct. 24, welcoming FC Dallas to San Jose at 8:30 pm. You can catch both matches live on Apple TV.
