Kell’s Kitchen: Sushi Showdown

Aaron Case
There’s always something fun and exciting happening during weekends on campus. Last weekend it was the tastiest of all the dorm competitions at Millbrook, our campus cook-off, which was recently rebranded as Kell’s Kitchen in honor of event organizer Owen Kelley ’17.

An annual clash of cutlery, this competition pits student chefs against each other in a delectable culinary battle. This year the theme was sushi, and teams representing each dorm got busy slicing, dicing, and rolling in Casertano Hall.

Faculty judges grabbed chopsticks and sampled the final products, scoring based on both taste and presentation. The student chefs got creative with cucumber-and-carrot garnishes, making the judge’s job extremely difficult. In the end, four teams earned Kell’s Kitchen accolades:

  • Best Roll — Abbott
  • Best Presentation — Case
  • Chef’s Choice — K-Hall
  • Messiest — Farm

Shout out to all the winners. We can’t wait sushi what you come up with next year!
