When the puck drops on the ECHL All-Star Classic in Allen, Texas, on Jan. 19, a Millbrook alumnus will be behind the bench for one of the yet-to-be-determined squads. That alumnus is, of course, Tad O’Had ’99, the general manager and head coach of the Kansas City Mavericks, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken.
This year the ECHL All-Star Game teams will be chosen via draft. O’Had will coach either the Stars or the Stripes, sides named for the hosting Allen Americans.
The winningest coach in Mavericks franchise and Kansas City pro hockey history, O’Had is guiding his team to yet another great season. The Mavericks currently have the best record in the ECHL’s Western Conference, and they’re tied for second overall in the league with O’had’s previous employer, the Florida Everblades.
If you’d like to see O’Had in action on Jan. 19, here’s a guide on how to watch the game.
