  • Cross-Country - Boys

    2024 - 2025
    Head Coach: Leigh Schmitt

The boys cross country team runs a competitive schedule that includes both larger events and dual meets. The year starts with the Canterbury Invitational and the O'Connell Invitational at Cheshire Academy - two large events that include most of the independent schools from Western New England. The boys run dual meets with Gunnery, Trinity-Pawling, and Kent. Other opponents in larger races include schools such as Suffield, Williston-Northampton, and Berkshire (among many others). Millbrook also boasts one of the most beautiful cross-country courses in New England, and hosted the New England Division IV championships at the close of the 2012 season.

Millbrook hopes to instill a lifelong passion for running in all of its cross country athletes. We want our runners to not only be successful in races at Millbrook, but also to continue a healthy running lifestyle throughout adulthood.

Team Traditions and Rituals
  • Every season, the team completes the "Pizza Run," an eight-mile run along a trail that ends at a local pizza shop.
  • The team kicks off the season with the Canterbury Invitational and finishes strong at the New England Championships.
  • Fresh oranges are a staple at every meet, giving runners a refreshing boost.
  • Every Monday, the team runs a set route known as the "Four Corners," working to improve their times each week.
  • The team looks forward to classic training runs each year, including Box Turtle Farm, Fraley Road, and Levitt Road.
  • The team also participates in a charity run each season, combining fitness with community service.
