Records are made to be broken, and two of Millbrook School’s finest student-athletes took their proverbial hammers to the Mustang record books this spring. Track & field standout Andrea Sassatelli ’28 and softball superstar Jazmin Mejia ’25 etched their names into the annals of Mustang athletic accomplishment with incredible performances.
Andrea Sassatelli: Track & Field
One of the most talented runners to ever attend Millbrook School, Andrea Sassatelli is on pace to completely rewrite our record books. The IIIrd former smashed school records for 1500- and 800-meter races during last weekend’s track & field meet at Cheshire Academy. She posted ridiculous times of
4:38 in the 1500-meter race and
2:11 in the 800-meter contest. The performance earned her a spot in the upcoming New England championships and
Mustang of the Week honors.
Andrea also starred on the cross-country team in the fall, setting the Millbrook course record for girls with a time of 19:50. She was
named team MVP and earned All NEPSAC cross-country honors.
With a few years of high school running ahead of her, Andrea has a chance to break even more records on the track and the cross-country course.
Jazmin Mejia: Softball
Joining the Mustangs from Port Jervis, NY, as a VIth former, Jazmin Mejia put up monster numbers in her single season as a Millbrook School student-athlete. At Millbrook’s
Spring Athletic Awards ceremony, she took home team MVP and All-NEPSAC honors.
When all was said and done, she walked away with three Millbrook single-season and career records, posting numbers that would make even the likes of Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani blush:
- Batting average: .705
- Slugging percentage: 1.659
- On-base percentage: .768
