Opening Days Re-Energize Campus

Aaron Case
Opening days at Millbrook School are the most exciting time of the year, as students new and returning re-energize campus after a quiet summer. The week leading up to the start of classes is packed with student registrations, preseason athletic practices, student leadership trainings, and, of course, a ton of hugs, smiling faces, and boxes as students moved into their dorms.

Varsity athletes and student leaders returned on Wednesday while returning and international students came on Friday. Then, the entire community joined in welcoming new students on Saturday, with much fanfare provided by bullhorns, loud music, and welcoming committees of students and faculty alike. After emotional goodbyes, parents left campus in the afternoon, and the full student body headed to the turf field to begin orientation. The day ended with the annual First Service in the Flagler Memorial Chapel.

On Sunday, students attended truncated classes in the morning. The dry run helped students get comfortable with their class schedules before school starts in earnest on Sept. 8.

We’re so excited to be back in the saddle, training Mustangs for lives of meaning and consequence. Keep up with what’s happening on campus all year by following us at the links below:
