Andrea Sassatelli Obliterates Millbrook Track Record

Now in her third year at Millbrook School, Andrea Sassatelli ’28 is building a legacy as one of the greatest runners in school history. On Saturday, she crushed the 20-year-old Millbrook cross-country course record in a tri-meet against Kent School and Ethel Walker.

The record was set by Berkshire runner Allison Letourneau in 2006, who ran the 5k course in 18:57. Andy bested that mark by an incredible 36 seconds with a lightning-fast 18:21 time. According to Girls Cross-Country Head Coach Kathy Havard, Andy’s achievement is especially impressive as Millbrook’s cross-country course is one of the most challenging in New England due to significant elevation gain throughout.

“Andy is having a breakout season, with her times steadily improving in every race,” Ms. Havard noted. “We both knew that the weather, the course conditions, and her own training on Saturday were optimal. We didn’t say ‘course record’ aloud, but we were both thinking about it. Andy had an awesome start, and by the first mile she had already opened up nearly a 2-minute lead on the rest of the field. She has trained on every section of our course, so she ran her own race, constantly pushing herself.  When she emerged from the woods for the final half mile, we knew she was going to break the record. But we didn’t realize by how much she would shatter it!”

Andy’s performance on Saturday adds to her growing list of records as a runner at Millbrook. In May, she broke the track record at the New Englands Championship, running the 800m in 2:13.85. She also holds the overall Millbrook girls records for the 800m (2:11) and 1500m (4:38) races, marks she set in a meet at Cheshire Academy in May 2025.

With a few cross-country meets remaining this fall, track & field season in the spring, and a full senior year of running ahead of her, there’s no telling how many records Andy will claim before she’s finished at Millbrook!
