Harris Hall Heroics Win Winter Weekend

Winter Weekend 2026 is in the books. There was dancing, there was ping-ponging, there was filmmaking, there was pep rallying—and there was extra anticipation as a snow day delayed the results for a whole week. Finally, during Friday Assembly, the boys of Harris Hall were declared Winter Weekend champions! Ultimately, though, everyone won, as dormmates bonded over a weekend of unbridled fun.

The spirited competition between dorms began on Thursday. Dorm colors began appearing as students hurried to and from their final classes of the week across the snow-blanketed campus. Then, the march to the pep rally at the gym began. Dormmates donned their dormitory colors—pink for Guest & Clark, purple for K-Hall, black for Burton, yellow for Prum, orange for Abbott, blue for Farmhouse, green for Harris, red for Case—and rambunctiously paraded along the bricks to the Mills Athletic Center.

Once inside, the noise reached football-stadium decibel levels. Finally, Mr. Kelly grabbed a megaphone and got the party started. The teams took turns delivering group performances for a panel of faculty judges as the rest of the faculty and staff cheered. As always, the performances displayed incredible spirit, cohesion, and creativity. There was choreography, acrobatic dunking, backflips, and even a live instrumental rendition of AC/DC’s famed “Hell’s Bells” intro. After the dancing was done, the dorms displayed their handcrafted banners. The first-day festivities carried on until bedtime, with the first round of an inter-dorm ping-pong tournament and the College Bowl trivia competition.

On Friday morning, students crowded around the ping-pong table in the barn as the tournament continued. The rest of the day alternated between more sports competitions and group performances, beginning with the dorm video showcase. A staple of Winter Weekend, the student-produced videos had the audience in stitches with movies spoofs, fairytales, whodunnits, and even cameos from the Class of 2025—all illustrating this year’s core value of integrity. Moving on to the gym, brother and sister dorms teamed up for a spike ball tournament, their dormmates cheering the fast-paced action from the bleachers. The final took place in the theater after lunch, as the team from Case/Clark Guest defeated Abbott/Harris.

Perhaps the most anticipated event of Winter Weekend, Friday’s air band competition showcased more incredible teamwork. Dorms worked together to choreograph and perform dances to mashups of popular songs. Some dorms incorporated themes from their videos into their air band routines, some incorporated props and costumes, and all brought the house down. When the last dance was danced, the ping-pong table was rolled onto the stage for the final between Burton (represented by Rhomy Mohamed ’26) and Harris (repped by Frankie Lombardo ’26). A late comeback by Frankie gave Harris the W. Day two then ended with pillow polo, searching for bubble gum in whipped cream, and a dance.

The activities tailed off over the remaining two days of the weekend. On Saturday, students who didn’t opt to leave campus during the open weekend participated in a scavenger hunt. In the final judged event, students cleaned their dorms to earn points on Sunday.
