Heroic Performances Counteract A Depleted Bench

With only two substitutes, Millbrook managed to earn a tie.
Jumping out to an early 3-0 lead in the first half afforded the Mustangs a safety cushion, which proved to be valuable on a day when our bench, depleted by illness, injury, and a tough four-day schedule, offered little in the way of relief. Many of our players needed to play the entire game, a nearly impossible assignment, given how hard our players push themselves when they are on the field. And yet, they kept everything together, even as the Frederick Gunn school, which benefitted from a deeper bench and a seriously fast striker, pulled even.

Goalkeeper, James Magid, performed exceptionally well once again, as did youngster Bryce Gelb, who played most of the game, scored his first goal, and was named "Man of the Match" by the captains.

If you missed the game, I can tell you that it was an exciting one for us. The Mustangs created many good scoring chances, and even had a goal called back. The team looked dangerous today. I think they took lessons away from our game against Rumsey, which is a fantastic sign for the future.

We'd like to thank Frederick Gunn for their sportsmanship. We'd also like to thank our loyal fans for their continued support, and for letting me pet their dogs.
