Assistant to the Headmaster for External Affairs
When Bob Anthony was a student at Millbrook, “The Boss” was finishing up his final year as the founding headmaster; they became fast friends until Mr. Pulling’s death thirty-six years later. It was no wonder that Mr. Anthony came back to Millbrook (after graduating from Colby College and working for a short time for the New York Mets) to become director of development in 1974 and he has kept the school coffers filled and alumni well-informed since then. Only his classmate and Trevor Zoo Director, Jonathan Meigs, has more seniority.
Here are some vital Millbrook statistics Mr. Anthony has accumulated over his 30+ years at Millbrook:
Amount of money he has helped to raise: $53 million plus
Number of advisees advised: at least 135
Percent of the alumni body he has come to know personally: at least 75%
Millbrook headmasters known well: ALL
Mr. Anthony and his wife, Ann, are raising their three children in Abbott House. All three of their children - Arthur '07, Mimi '08, and Sarah '12 - are following in their dad’s academic footsteps. When not on the road for Millbrook, Mr. Anthony finds the time to be varsity golf coach, advisor to three students, and member of the administrative team. In addition to all he has done professionally, Mr. Anthony also serves in several unofficial capacities - school historian and Preserver of Traditions. It’s hard to judge whether these or his many professional contributions have been more valued.
Director of Advancement
A longtime neighbor and friend, Nancy Stahl has now added “official member of the alumni/development team” to her list of Millbrook relationships. In the fall of 2007 she took on new duties as Major Gifts Officer and spends most of her time traveling for Millbrook as an advocate for Pulling Forward.
A graduate of Purnell School and of Hollins College, Mrs. Stahl is a veteran of the independent school world with many years of service on the boards (and serving as chair) of both Purnell and Dutchess Day School. In addition she has had long associations as either a board member or board chair of The Boys Club of New York, the Freedom Institute (NY) and the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation (Great Barrington, MA).
Mrs. Stahl lives with her husband, Bill, in nearby Millbrook horse country – a significant fact because she also happens to be the current joint master of the Millbrook Hunt.
Director of Communications
845-677-8261 Ext. 170
With a degree in English Education from Northwestern University, Mrs. Blayney taught in the parochial school system in Chicago before moving into the world of marketing and communications in 1994. As a media planner/buyer and project manager in pharmaceutical marketing, she led Hamilton Communications in the pursuit of online advertising. Moving into retail and consumer marketing, she worked as an independent copywriter and account manager on a wide variety of accounts for print, radio, direct mail, and Internet advertising.
At Millbrook Mrs. Blayney works wonders on the website, overseeing the development of web content and continually working to increase the efficiency and usefulness of this very important communications tool. Mrs. Blayney also manages a wide variety of communications activities - everything from the Annual Report, admission viewbook, and semi-annual Pillar publications to event invitations, campus signage, and use of Millbrook's logo on items in our school store.
She is also the proud mom of four, including daughter, Taylor, who graduated from Millbrook's in 2010.

Assistant International Student Advisor
World Language Department Chair,
Director of Parent Programs

Ms. Barbara Gatski has been at Millbrook since 2000 as chair of the Foreign Language Department, but it wasn't until seven years later that she entered the Callard House world of fund-raising as director of parent programs. She now leads a super hectic Millbrook life: she teaches Spanish IVB (a pre-AP course), chairs the department, organizes both Grandparents Day and the Parents Weekends, heads up the parent Annual Fund and is in charge of Parent Education Programs. Add to that advisor to international student and co-advisor to the community service Outreach Program and you have one busy faculty member.
A graduate of both Lock Haven University (BA in Spanish) and Middlebury College (MA in Spanish Literature), Ms. Gatski now teaches Spanish alongside her new husband, John McMullan, who joined her department part-time after retiring from Hotchkiss. They live in Lakeville, Connecticut.
For over twenty years Ms. Herow has been a member of the alumni/development team at Millbrook. While working full-time for the alumni/development effort, she is also Mom to daughters, Megan (Millbrook class of 2009) and Sarah (Millbrook class of 2012). She has also been a student herself and recently completed her Master of Public Administration at Pace University.
Currently in her capacity as assistant director of development/alumni affairs, she oversees the internal work for capital fund-raising and keeps the entire fund and friend-raising operation running smoothly. As a faculty member, she has three advisees and co-chairs the Outreach Community Service Program. Ms. Herow brings to her job many special talents, including a vast capacity for getting things done!
Administrative Assistant, Development/Alumni Affairs
845-677-8261 ext. 163
Director of the Annual Fund and Alumni/Constituent Relations
Assistant Director of Communications
Administrative Assistant/Database Manager, Development/Alumni Affairs
845-677-8261 ext. 171
Since July of 2006 Melissa Pastre has been a key member of the alumni/development team. Without her, alumni relations and fund-raising efforts would effectively grind to a halt - she’s the one who keeps all constituent records current and who records and tracks all gifts given to the school. So, when you send in your Annual Fund donation, Melissa is the first to receive and process it, and when you receive any correspondence from the alumni/development office, you can be sure she has had a hand in producing it. Multiply this by more than 5000 constituents in our database and you’ll have a good idea of the amount of information Melissa handles. She and her husband, Bruce, have two grown children and one grandson and live in nearby Stanfordville where Melissa was recently elected town councilwoman.
