Baseball Alums Starring in College & Appalachian League

Aaron Case
School is out for summer, but former Millbrook baseball stars are still making news, from the Appalachian League to the college classroom.

Justin Munoz playing in MLB’s Appalachian League

After breaking home run and hit records at Millbrook this year, Justin Munoz ’26 is getting his first taste of baseball at the next level in the Appalachian League, playing catcher and DHing for the Burlington Sock Puppets. The collegiate summer league offers rising freshman and sophomores a chance to make a strong impression on MLB teams ahead of the MLB Draft on July 11 and 12.

In six games, Justin, who will play at Virginia Tech if he goes undrafted or decides not to sign a professional contract, is slashing .167/.423/.222 over 18 at-bats in six games. Behind the dish, he’s thrown out two base-stealers and posted a .980 fielding percentage.

The Sock Puppets are next in action tonight, playing a doubleheader against the Danville Otterbots.

Pedro Leon makes CSC Academic All-District team

In addition to racking up strikeouts on the mound for the Holy Cross Crusaders, Pedro Leon ’24 starred in the college classroom. He was one of three Holy Cross players named to the CSC Academic All-District team in early June.

Pedro has had his ups and downs on the mound, pitching to a 7.59 ERA across two seasons. However, he’s shown great potential by striking out 85 batters in 70 career innings.

Justin and Pedro are just two examples of the well-rounded education Millbrook provides. Mustangs leave Millbrook fully prepared for success both on and off the field thanks to talented faculty and coaches focused on guiding talented high schoolers to reach their full potential.
