Andrea Sassatelli Breaks New England Track Record

Aaron Case
Track & field headed to Marianapolis Preparatory School on Saturday for the New Englands Championship. They returned with several medals, including Andrea Sassatelli’s record-breaking first-place finish in the 800-meter event:

  • Andrea Sassatelli ’28 — 1st place in the 800m (2:13.85)
  • Jack Molinaro ’27 — 3rd place in the triple jump (42’ 5”)
  • Ollie Fauver ’28 — 5th place in the 800m (2:06.04)
  • Jack Molinaro ’27, Keith Kumahlor ’28, Ajak Dau ’26 & Marcus Paul ’27 — 6th place in the 4 x 100m relay (45.72)

At this point, Andrea is competing against herself, as her 800m performance broke the meet record she set last year. Her overall performance during the spring earned her a spot in the 800m race at the upcoming New Balance National Championships.

Andrea also set school records in 1500- and 800-meter races as a IIIrd former last year. The Millbrook community will be cheering hard as she targets even more records over the next two school years!

How nice to hear news from the school. I am particularly pleased to see that Track and Field has been re-instated. When I was there for our 50th, the track was all overgrown and out of use. I was captain in 1957 and we won the Pentaganal that year against all other schools. Am living in Ireland and would love to hear from any other '57 class mates.
