Millbrook artists are on a roll at the Scholastic Art Awards. After amassing 63 Gold and Silver keys last year, our incredible creatives scored another 54 in 2026—including two Gold Key portfolios and an American Visions Award Nominee.
At the regional awards, judges review the Gold Key winners and select five American Visions Award Nominees. Estee O’Brien ’26 received one of those five nominations for her photo “The Last Flower That Bloomed.”
The two portfolio winners are Eason Wang ’26 and Nga Ho ’26. According to Photography Instructor Sarah MacWright, portfolio Keys are especially difficult to win, as they require a cohesive body of work and an artist statement. She warned Eason and Nga that Millbrook students haven’t had much success submitting portfolios in the past, but they were up for the challenge and brought home the gold.
Eason won his portfolio Key with a series of photos featuring his friends back home in China. Nga submitted a portfolio of her beautiful ceramic pieces.
Overall, 30 Millbrook artists received Keys—27 Gold and 27 Silver. The Gold Key winners will compete at the national level of the awards, where they could win Gold or Silver Medals and scholarships. All of Millbrook’s Key winners will have their work exhibited at SUNY New Paltz.
Huge congratulations to all our award recipients! Below is a complete list of the Gold and Silver Key winners—if you see them around campus, give them props:
