Students Showcase One-Acts at Page to Stage

Millbrook’s playwrights work hard all year writing one-act plays to present to an audience of students and faculty at the annual Page to Stage reading. Under the tutelage of Theater Director Elaine Lifter and inspired by recent visits from theater industry professionals like William Sadler and Bill Coelius, the students produced work that expertly explored the human experience, showcasing writing beyond their years.

This year four playwrights presented their work, casting their peers to bring the plays to life in the Chelsea Morrison Theater:

  • Lily Kennedy ’27 presented a play titled No Clue, which explores the dramatic question, “When forced to choose between love and loyalty, what will one choose?”
  • Anna Alphonso ’27 produced a play called You Poor Thing that asks, “Is doing what you love enough to be happy?”
  • Liz Alcantar ’27 dove into themes of grief and friendship in her play How Is This All Possible?
  • Ella Main ’26 staged Cabin: Of Cheats and Deniers, a play that asks the question, “What is true love, and how does someone show it?”

All the readers delivered inspired performances, pulling a range of emotions from the audience. The show was a powerful reminder of the strength and depth of Millbrook’s incredible performing arts program.
