The Lady Mustangs defeated Miss Hall's in a tough match today. The Girls JV Team fell behind early, giving Miss Hall's a 1-0 lead. Millbrook put together some great passing and had numerous scoring chances, but could not find the back of the net in the first half.
The girls came out eager in the second half tallying two goals to take the lead. Fran Gottwald put in a penalty kick after a hand ball in the box. Shortly after, Bria Horsley scored on a nicely placed ball. Miss Hall's would score late in the half to tie the game. Millbrook answered with less than two minutes remaining in the game when Fran Gottwald tallied her second goal of the game.
The win was a team effort with all players contributing in some way. The defense (Carolina Calero, Hannah Hill, Emily Hoffman, and Laurel Stine) was again up to the challenge, halting many attenmpts by the opponent. Sarah Collins had a number of key saves, some at point-blank range. Midfielders (Erica Doyle, Fran Gottwald and Amelia Ferris) worked well at moving the ball from the defensive end to the offensive. Whittier Ambrose and Bailey Summers had standout games, playing a number of positions. The Lady Mustangs will travel to Hotchkiss next.
