Yet Again, One Inning Makes the Difference

L Peterson

The Millbrook Mustangs traveled to Ethel Walker on a blustery Wednesday afternoon.

Walkers took advantage of a few Millbrook physical and mental errors and had a timely hit to put 3 runs up on the Mustangs in the bottom of the first inning. After that, the Mustangs stayed mentally tough and held Walkers for the rest of the game. This included three 1-2-3 innings in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. In the 5th inning, the Mustangs buckled down with bases loaded and only one out to get out of the inning with no further damage—with Meghan Abbate ‘29 getting a key strikeout and Joiee Downs ‘29 going back on a fly ball from shortstop.

Other defensive highlights include great work from Jaicee Downs ‘26 behind the plate and from Kate Rubinstein ‘27 at first base (some good stretches and great tracking of a foul ball going back).

Shout out to Abbate for notching 10 strikeouts from the mound and going 2-for-3 offensively.

The Mustangs head to Holy Child on Saturday.
