Hard-Hitting Hotchkiss
Girls JV Tennis challenged Hotchkiss JV Tennis this afternoon. The Hotchkiss girls proved to be very strong opponents, defeating the Mustangs in all seven matches. The hard-hitting Hotchkiss girls kept the Millbrook players defending on the baseline for much of the afternoon. However, the Mustangs did not play completely on their heels and took every opportunity to get to the net and fight for points. While Hotchkiss may have won the majority of points, the Millbrook girls forced them to work for every inch on the courts. Ilayda Koenigsberger played a particularly strong match at number 3 singles. She took her opponent to deuce on almost every point. Raphaella Pope also made her first appearance in an exhibition singles match for the Mustangs. Raphaella faced an older and more experienced opponent, but she used her natural instincts and athleticism to stay in each rally and earn some great points throughout the match. The Mustangs have plenty of work to do before their next match, but they remain motivated for the season ahead!
