It’s been a banner year for Millbrook’s boys varsity soccer—quite literally, as the Mustangs brought home a
NEPSAC Class C title banner in November. But even though the fall season is over, the accolades continue rolling in, as Ajak Dau ’26 and Marcus Paul ’27 were recently included in Sports Illustrated’s inaugural
Prep School All-America Boys Soccer Team. Ajak made the third team list, while Marcus received an honorable mention honor.
"Ajak was very deserving of this honor as he was truly a dominant figure on the field in every game,” said Millbrook Boys Varsity Soccer Head Coach Scott Ruggles. “He was lauded by opposing coaches and players alike as being a great player and intense competitor. Marcus really solidified his spot on the All-America list with his dominance in the last two playoff games. While he is an incredible player and overall talent, he scored 6 of our 8 goals in the semifinals and finals, showing his desire to bring a trophy back down School Road."
Being highlighted by a national publication like SI is an incredible achievement. As SI’s
Sheldon Shealer explains, “The inaugural High School on SI Prep School All-America Boys Soccer Team recognizes the very best players from a prep school landscape that represents one of the highest concentrations of elite talent in the U.S. … Since prep schools operate outside traditional state high school associations, their level of competition is often overlooked by broader high school honors. Yet these prep programs remain among the most competitive and talent-rich settings in the country.”
Ajak will add to the long list of
Mustangs who play in college and beyond when he joins the Middlebury College Panthers next season, while Marcus is slated to return to Millbrook for his VIth form year. He’ll look to lead the Mustangs to back-to-back NEPSAC titles when they take the pitch this coming fall.
