Millbrook Ties Indian Mountain

On Wednesday 9/25 the Millbrook Girls JV soccer team played host to  Indian Mountain.  Over the past few years, the Lady Mustangs had been dealt some tough losses at the hands of Indian Mountain.  On this day, the girls rose to the challenge.

Indian Mountain notched the first goal of the match, but the Lady Mustangs came back in a hurry.  Amelia Ferris once again scored the first goal for Millbrook to tie the game.  Following up Amelia's goal was Laurel Stine withl a beautiful touch over the visiting keeper's head to put Millbrook up 2-1.  The score would stand at 2-1 at the half.

The second half was a back and forth battle.  Indian Mountain tied the game at two, sneaking the ball past goalkeeper Sarah Collins.  After a number of great runs, Bria Horsley found the back of the net to put the Mustangs back in front.  Despite the efforts of the girls, Indian Mountain was able to score late in the game to leave it at a draw.

The tie was a complete team effort highlighted by the work of the mid-fielders.  Short-handed due to injuries, the mid-fielders (Erica Doyle, Amelia Ferris, Whittier Ambrose, Franziska Gottwald, and Bailey Summers) played an inspiring game showing much improvement from their first match.  Sarah Collins also played an excellent game in net.
