The JV Girls' Hockey team traveled to Hotchkiss for their season opener. Up against a larger and more seasoned Bearcats team, the Lady Mustangs took the ice knowing that they had a lot of work ahead of them. In the first period, the Hotchkiss team's skill and experience resulted in 30 shots on goal. Amber Koenigsberger, in her first ever game as a goalie, turned away 21 of those shots. Millbrook gave up two more goals in the second period and went into the third trailing 9-0. The girls worked hard, constantly hustling and showing terrific determination. With five minutes left in the game, Makenzie Scheerer chipped the puck out of the defensive zone to a streaking Emma Feitelson. Feitelson outraced the Bearcat defensive player to create a breakaway. Emma scored on her 5th shot of the game, breaking the shutout. Koenigsberger finished the game with 34 saves.
