Mustangs notch first victory of the season against up and coming Canterbury Saints

This was the Mustangs' third match without our full lineup. Despite missing current #1 Leo Hou and #7 Owen Kunshner, Millbrook boys squash managed to notch their first win of the season against a well-coached Canterbury squad. The match was tied 2-2 after the first round of matches, with #7 Vincent He and #6 Max Dreyfus both earning wins. #4 Daniel Yang and #2 Winston Walter both lost after struggling to find the necessary length to keep their opponent off the T. As we headed into the second round of matches, Orion Sartison efficiently dispatched his opponent with a 3-0 victory. Up 3-2 with the #3 and #1 matches both going to five games, Millbrook players were trying to watch both courts simultaneously. At #1 Hector Stephenson went down 0-2 in games before regaining some composure and working his way to a fifth game. He ultimately struggled to repeat the feat for three games in a row and lost. Teddy Wilson at #3 went up early in the fifth only to cede much of his lead to his opponent. With grit, focus, and some consistent length, Teddy battled to an 11-9 fifth-game win. From our only third former, it was a remarkable display of grit and focus. While it was a win, we left the match fully cognizant of the physical and mental ways we need to improve.
