Today's game was the most exciting contest of the season. The Millbrook girls showed true grit and phenomenal teamwork today. Storm King ran a small bench, but they had an incredibly fast midfield. Storm King had almost total control of the draws to start the game. They competed hard for 50/50 balls across the field and Millbrook was caught on their heels for the first few minutes. After a quick timeout and a few adjustments, the Millbrook girls got to work! They executed an aggressive defense and made some great cuts through the midfield to slow down Storm King and start generating an attack. On attack the girls alternated between aggressive runs to the cage and a disciplined formation from the 12. Millbrook had a 2 goal lead going into the last 6 minutes, but Storm King tied up the game with about 4 minutes left. An extra aggressive Millbrook defense shut down Storm King's attempt at the cage in the final minutes generating a fast break for Isabella Puccinelli. Isabella ran the length of the field only to be pushed to the ground by Storm King's defense when she hit the 8 meter. With 14 seconds on the clock, Isabella was calm and collected as she took her free position and put the winning goal on the board! Millbrook played hard off of the final draw to put the game away, 9-8. This one was truly a game for the books! Every girl on the team rose to the challenge and played to their full potential and most importantly they played together!
