5 Strong Innings from Millbrook

Millbrook hosted Marianapolis on Saturday afternoon after a herculean effort by Millbrook maintenance to get the field playable after a rainy night and morning. Thank you, Mark!

Millbrook’s defense came out ready to go, shutting down Marianapolis in a quick 1-2-3, featuring 2 strikeouts from Meghan Abbate ‘29 and a great catch from Hailey Vigna ‘27 in centerfield. The Millbrook defense stayed strong through the fifth inning, holding the Marianapolis offense to two runs. Defensive highlights include great stretches from Kate Rubinstein ‘27 at first base, another great catch from Vigna in center, and good stops behind the plate by Jaicee Downs ‘26.

In the top of the 6th inning, Marianapolis extended their lead to 5-0, but in the bottom of the 6th, the Mustang bats were ready to string together a rally. Jaicee Downs got thing started with a single and then scored on an RBI-double from Abbate. Joiee Downs ‘29 then scored Abbate with a solid hit of her own.

In the 7th inning, Marianapolis had a big inning to solidify their win.

Shout out to Abbate for notching another 10 strikeouts from the mound.
