Part-time Strength Coach

Millbrook School is seeking a strength coach to work with its student-athletes. Athletic spaces at all levels are considered classrooms and integral to Millbrook’s mission. All teams within the Millbrook Athletic Department teach character development, integrity, physical fitness, sportsmanship, competitive drive, and teamwork while amplifying school spirit.
Responsibilities:
  • Run and develop the school’s strength and conditioning program in the fall and winter seasons.
  • Work with coaches and teams to help develop strength programs for specific sports.
  • Work with individual athletes.
The position of Strength Coach may be combined with other duties pertaining to residential life, community service, etc., as deemed necessary by the dean of faculty. Every effort has been made to make the job description as complete as possible. However, it in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in exercise science, kinesiology, sports performance or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of biomechanics and exercise physiology.
  • Current CSCS or CPT certification or equivalent
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • The ability to demonstrate and teach high school students who aim to play collegiate athletics.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with high school athletes and with other coaches.
  • The ability to hold student-athletes accountable in a meaningful and thoughtful manner that focuses on their growth as individuals.
  • Energetic self-starter.
  • A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept.
Physical & Sensory Requirements:
  • Ability to demonstrate exercises.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to work in person, on campus.
  • Must be flexible and willing to adapt to new technology, teaching methods and/or schedules.
  • Must be able to physically teach, coach, advise, attend meetings and be an active member of residential life.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., without restrictions.
  • If coaching, must be willing & able to travel & attend sporting events on nights and weekends.
  • Faculty members must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
Working Conditions:
Regular exposure to outside weather conditions.

Compensation:
In isolation, this is a part-time position and this person would be asked to work roughly 12-20 hours per week for the duration of the season. The salary for this position is: $16.00 - $25.00 per hour. When determining placement in the salary range, Millbrook School considers education, total experience, and other factors permitted by law.
