Emma (Thomas) Sabia has worked in the wine industry for more than a decade and is the owner of The Bottle Shop at Astor Square, a wine and spirits shop in Rhinebeck, NY.

After graduating from Gettysburg College with degrees in political science and Spanish, Emma moved to Napa Valley to study in the Culinary Institute of America’s post-graduate wine and beverage program. She began her career working with wine expert Karen MacNeil, author of The Wine Bible, and for a Napa-based marketing agency where she managed global strategies for international wineries and regional associations.

Prior to opening the shop, Emma worked for Jackson Family Wines — the ninth largest wine producer in the U.S. known for wineries like Kendall-Jackson and La Crema — where she managed global communications for the company’s luxury and international estates.  She is a certified sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers), a certified wine professional (Culinary Institute of America), and is completing the Level 4 Diploma Program through Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
