Field Hockey - Varsity
2017 - 2018
Head Coach: Kate Higgins
Millbrook is a small school with an ambitious athletic program, and every player on the Millbrook varsity team must dig deep every day and challenge not only themselves, but each other. Every player has a chance at leadership, one of the advantages of a smaller program. We expect 100% commitment from our athletes if we are to succeed against our excellent competition. A Millbrook athlete is a tenacious competitor not only on the field, but in academics as well, as more than half of the varsity squad attains honor roll on a consistent basis.
We play 16 games per season, with all of our competition coming from the Western New England Prep School Field Hockey Association (WNEPSFHA). We play a demanding schedule of small, medium, and large schools (Millbrook being a small school or Class C Division participant) including Kent, Loomis, Miss Porters, Suffield, Williston, Berkshire, The Gunnery, Greenwich Academy, and Convent of the Sacred Heart.
The team finishes consistently among the top teams in the Small School Division, and won the Division in 2006, 2007 and 2008. The lady Mustangs were seeded #1 in the NEPSAC Tournament in 2008 and lost in the semi-finals, for the second year in a row. In 2008, the team earned its highest WNEPSFHA ranking ever, 4th overall among all schools large, medium and small and finished the season an impressive 12-4-1. Every year, we graduate seniors who go on to play at prestigious college programs, including players currently (or recently) playing at Boston University, Manhattanville, Elmira, St. Michael's, Washington College, Ohio Wesleyan, Franklin & Marshall, and Utica.
