Coach Spinella '06 grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania in a large hockey family, and has been on skates for as long as she can remember. After playing three years for Millbrook, and receiving the Fredrick W. Knutson Trophy, Spinella continued on to play at Elmira College. At Elmira, Spinella (then Steele-Norton) was a recipient of the Iris Leadership Award and 2-year captain for the Soaring Eagles. During her time as a defenseman with Elmira, Spinella helped the Soaring Eagles win three ECAC West Championships in 2008, 2009, and 2010. The Soaring Eagles also advanced to three Frozen Four NCAA tournament appearances in 2008 (3rd place), 2009 (2nd place), 2010 (3rd place ). Coach Spinella has been back with the Mustangs since 2010 and helped coach the team to 3 NEPSAC tournament appearances and 2nd place in Division II in 2013. Helping to grow the game of girls hockey is a lifelong goal of Spinella’s and being able to build players that can continue on to play at the college level is equally as important. When not with the hockey team, Coach Spinella can be found in the Admission Office or on the turf with the lacrosse team.
