Winter Musical "Violet" Displays Millbrook Students' Talent

Jonathan Lopez
"Violet" was a hit over the weekend and a culmination of tremendous effort and talent from Millbrook students.
From the director to producers, cast, crew, and tech team, Violet blossomed with high energy to entertain an enthusiastic audience of Millbrook students, faculty, and friends. Set in the mid-60's in the deep south, Violet follows the story of a young woman (Mary McCartney '15) who bears a horrendous scar on her face from a childhood accident. In hopes that a TV evangelist (Miles Edmonds Messinger '14) can heal her, she embarks on a journey by bus from Spruce Pine, North Carolina to Tulsa, Oklahoma. On her journey, she meets several people, including two soldiers (Billy Kelly '14 and Jayden Cho '12), who soon become her friends. Ultimately, Violet experiences a form of healing that is truly more important than the physical miracle she was searching for.

Tim Saltzman '14 was convincing as Violet's father, and Erica Doyle '15 played a terrific young Violet. The other talented cast, Violet's bus companions, included Sydney Greenfield, Dana Foote, and many others.

The set was wonderfully done – morphing the Chelsea Morrison Theater into a bus, a busy church, the outdoors, and right into the setting of the musical at every turn.
