Millbrook Rally Not Enough v. Marianapolis

L Peterson
The Millbrook Mustangs hosted Marianapolis on a beautiful Saturday afternoon less than 24 hours after their last game.

Marianapolis hopped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Mustangs had good shut down defense in the second inning to hold them. Marianpolis added another run to their lead in the top of the 3rd inning, but the Mustangs responded with 3 of their own runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Stella Renzi ‘26 started the inning with a walk and was moved to third on a hit from Maddie O’Brien ‘25. Renzi then scored on a passed ball before Jess Trocchio ‘24 scored O’Brien with a single. Kelly Naula ‘24 then bunted Trocchio over to third before Jaicee Downs ‘26 had an RBI single.

Going into the 4th inning, the score was 4-3, Marianpolis lead. Some good hitting and Millbrook defensive miscues led to Marianpolis padding their lead to 10-3. However, the Mustangs defense came back strong in the rest of the game. Millbrook also chipped back, scoring a run in both the 6th and 7th innings. Abby Hylan ‘25 got things started in the 6th inning with a triple and scored on an RBI bunt from Renzi. In the 7th, Trocchio got on base with a great placed hit and then got to 3rd on passed balls to be in position for another RBI single from Downs.
