Suffield Bats Win the Day

L Peterson
The Millbrook Mustangs hosted Suffield on Monday afternoon after the eclipse for a rescheduled game.

The Mustangs came out ready to play and held the Suffield offense to only one run in the first two innings. The bats for Suffield then heated up and they added 5 runs in the 3rd inning and 3 runs in the 5th and 6th innings. The Mustangs added a run of their own in the third inning, when Stella Renzi ‘26 got on base after a hit by pitch and scored when Jess Trocchio ‘24 put the ball in play. The Millbrook defense remained tight throughout and controlled what they could control, making the plays behind Malmgren to shut down some solid hitting from Suffield.

Highlights for the Mustangs include:
-a beautiful 5-pitch 2nd inning by Haley Malmgren ‘25 with help from her defense

-great defense from our infield: Downs at shortstop, including a line drive double play and heads up defense on a Suffield attempt to take two on a walk; Renzi at third base who made some key plays on hard hit ground balls; Trocchio at first base for making some good stretches to secure key outs; Lilliah Tambourine ‘26 at second base with some clean bunt coverage and a good line drive catch; and Malmgren for making key plays from the mound, including good bunt coverage and pop-ups

-a solidly struck double that hit the fence from Jaicee Downs ‘26

Millbrook looks to travel to Cheshire this Wednesday.
