Three Teams and Full Courts
It was an intense afternoon Wednesday with two guest teams in the Millbrook courts. We triumphed over DDS with a 4-1 score, a welcome result that showed a new focus in game play after we lost the week prior. Frankie, playing number 1, had an intense game that went into the fifth game, battling through injury to cinch the win for Millbrook!
However, I would argue that it was the IMS matchup that was the real excitement of the day. After losing 5-2 earlier this season, it was exciting to see our number 1, Vincent, win 3-1 for his match, and our number 2, Ray, win 3-0. Playing number 3, Beckett Kilzer came very close to winning his match, losing 3-2. But it was our number 8, guest player Catherine Page, who was the real surprise. A non-squash player who has frequently joined practice in her free time, Catherine won against IMS with a 3-1 score. After loosing the first game 5-11, she hit her stride, winning the following three games at an impressive 11-4, 11-4, and 11-5.
At this second to last game of the season, the growth in our players is readily apparent and a true pleasure to witness.
