Girls Soccer Stangs Earn All-Star Spots

Girls varsity soccer standouts Abigail Danso ’24 and Mary LaFond ’25 traveled to Ethel Walker School in Connecticut to play in WWNEPSSA All-League matches against the best of the best. It was Abigail’s third selection to the elite squad and no surprise to Millbrook girls varsity soccer Head Coach Gordie MacKenzie ’79: “Abigail's individual skills and field of vision are what set her apart from many of her competitors. Her selection is validation of the kind of player she is.”

 

In addition to her inclusion on the WWNEPSSA team, Mary was also named to the NEPSAC Junior All-Star Team. A true difference-maker, “Mary's play as one of our central defenders has been one reason the team has shown improvement from last year,” said Coach MacKenzie, “She is quick to break up an opponent's offensive threat and transition the ball back to our midfielders for them to move the ball the other way.”
