NEPSTA DIII Championship

The Millbrook Mustangs took a long road trip to Attleboro, Massachusetts, on Millbrook-Pomfret Day to compete in the DIII Cross Country Championships, also known as the New England Invitational. The weather on race day couldn’t have been more perfect for mid-November – sunny and cool. And the course itself was a very runnable, fast, and just slightly rolling on a converted golf course. Twenty three DIII teams competed in the event, teams from each of the New England states were represented, and a total of 154 runners towed the line. Sixth former and captain Jack Evans ran a very solid race and placed 13^th overall in a time of 17:53. This placement earned him a coveted “top twenty” spot and a ticket to the NEPSTA All-Star race at St. Mark’s School on November 18^th. The other Millbrook runners who scored for the team on the day were as follows: Luke Sosnow (19:55, 71^st), Marvin Sun. (22:00, 126^th), George Wilkins (22:23, 134^th), and Niklas Gradin (23:08,142^nd). Many of Millbrook’s runners set personal records or “PRs” for the day on such a fast course. Overall, the boys ran well and it was a fitting finish on a fine season.
