Juliet Drury cruises in to win Gordy Glover Invitational

Coach Havard
The Mustangs brought their grit to the Gordy Glover Invitational at Suffield last weekend.  While the rain held off, the course was super muddy, resulting in some epic falls and at least one lost shoe. Millbrook competed undaunted. Juliet Drury was well in front after the first mile, and she continued to increase her lead over Chloe Carroll of Canterbury, while settling into a comfortable finish in 21:04.  The Miss Porter's squad had an exceptional showing, with their top 5 runners finishing in the top ten at this six school invitational. Next in for Millbrook in 12th place was Jaicee Downs, in a time of 25:22. Newcomer Selina Hung bade a big move into the third place spot for Millbrook, taking 17th overall. Sarah Eagen had an epic final 400 meters, out-sprinting the fifth Pomfret runner, and bringing us within two points of Pomfret in the final score.  Aiden Corbin was Millbrook's 5th runner in 26th, closely followed by Linna Du in 27th, Angelina Huang in 30th, and Ingrid Schmitt in 31st. Hailey Mesard and Tracy Yin nursed injuries throughout the race and pushed through to finish. Pomfret was third overall with 73, and Millbrook in fourth with 75. As we look towards the New Englands and Millbrook's Pomfret Day, the team knows what we need to do to win!  This Saturday, look for us at Hotchkiss School. 2:30 pm race time!
