Millbrook vs. New Hampton

Millbrook finished off their two game road trip against an extremely talented New Hampton team. The first period didn't see any goals, but some strong chances from New Hampton with Catherine Champagne standing tall in goal to turn them away. And later in the period Millbrook created some chances of their own with shots through traffic and even a miscommunication from the New Hampton goalie and defense which saw Nicole Bessinger catch the puck with an empty net from the top of the blue only to have a New Hampton get in front of the shot. The second period opened up a bit with both sides seeing their chance on the powerplay. New Hampton opened the scoring a little more than halfway through the second period crashing the net hard on the rush knocking both the puck and Millbrook's goalie into the net. A scary moment when after the play finished Catherine Champagne was slow getting up. Thankfully, after a brief stoppage of play, she was able to return and finish the game. New Hampton made it 2-0 with 5 minutes remaining in the period. The girls in blue didn't give up and made it 2-1 before the period ended when Jeannie Wallner wrangled a wobbly puck and beat the New Hampton goalie with a shot from the low slot. The third was wide open with both sides making a few more trips to the penalty box. The girls in blue made a mad push at the end pulling the goalie with under a minute left and a mass of traffic in front of the net, but couldn't get any shots through. The game ended with a final of 2-1 in favor of New Hampton
