A successful match

Coach Powers
I couldn’t be prouder of the girls.  Not a single returner from last year?  Yup.  Very little match experience? Yup again.  A great effort?  You bet!  And some nice squash?  Most Certainly!  Great job supporting each other through the first match for many of them?  YES.  I found myself saying how tired I got just by watching the girls as they ran to get every ball, and extended point after point.  Up and down the ladder, each one was trying to play the smart squash we have been working on so far this season.  Several girls won their first games ever yesterday including Tracy He at 11, Natalie Whitman at #7 and Emma Muccia at #3.  Others battled into a fifth game including Caroline Hopkins at #8 and Caroline Frase at #2.  The match of the day was at #1; a five-game epic as Josie Duggan prevailed by staying calm and playing her game in the fifth and deciding game.  While that was our only official match win, Paras Musallam, Ella Green, Anna Wilson, Olivia Finnerty and Elizabeth Finch all played their hearts out in tough matches.  I look forward to our re-match with Berkshire at the end of the year to see how much progress our girls make.
