Congrats to the team on another good win and to the end of a great season!

Coach Bergstedt
Despite the cold, the team was still able to put on a good exhibition of how they progressed both individually and as a team throughout the season.
Gordon Lock opened the scoring about 20 minutes in to the first half on a cross from Ethan Kessler, who had made a great run down the left flank. Pearson Latse scored second on a long cross/shot from the right flank. Greg Levin, playing at CM, controlled play throughout the game but started the attack for Pearson’s goal by quickly changing the point of attack with a great ball out wide. August Plagemann got the third goal of the game on a great individual play in which he made a run that split the defense and finished it off with a great shot brought low and to the corner to beat the Salisbury keeper. This goal also got started by strong CM play by Will Ricker, who won the ball in our end and made a quick outlet pass forward. In the second half with the wind at our backs, we started things off quickly. Gordon Lock got a goal after the first minute on an assist from Ashton Colangelo. Ash found the back on the net himself soon after on an assist from Pearson. Greg Levin then got a well-deserved goal to score sixth and final point on an assist from Gordon Locke.

It was a good win; however, what is most impressive is not so much the score, but rather how much everyone contributed to the goals scored, and this points to our overall success. We played well in many games this season, but only when we played together, such as in the second IMS game and the game against Berkshire. At our core, by the end of the season the players were really starting to develop an understanding of how each other played and also a trust of each other’s’ individual talents. This led to better communication and better team play.

It was a labor of love at times, but both Coach Cross and I will miss working with this team and furthering their ability to work together. But I expect them to continue to move from great to brilliant as they progress within the Millbrook soccer program, whose future definitely looks bright with this group of talented athletes.
