Boys' Cross-Country vs. Gunnery School

Leigh Schmitt
The Boys' Cross-Country ran strong in their first home meet of the season on Wednesday, September 26th.  Under sunny skies and somewhat muggy conditions, the Millbrook harriers put forth a true team effort and won the dual meet versus Gunnery School with a final score of 22-35.  Millbrook's cumulative low score was a reflection of numerous Mustang runners placing high - and strategically well - in the event.  Sixth former Mateo Winogrand was the fastest Millbrook runner in a time of 20:13 and placed only 27 seconds behind the first-placed Gunnery runner.  Mustang runners subsequently took third place (Hugh McClaughlin - 21:29), fourth place (Charlie Weisburg - 21:30), fifth place (Cam Abel - 21:34), and Jayden Reaves came in eighth place overall (22:46).  Millbrook's sixth and seventh runners, which traditionally might not score points in a race, were able to place high enough in the overall meet to further leverage team points against Gunnery.  Peter Lyon was the sixth Millbrook runner, and tenth overall, in a time of 25:41, and Will Foulke was the seventh Mustang and came in eleventh place (25:47).  In sum, the boys ran a solid, stellar race and are poised recover, rest, and run hard in practice with their next meet in over a week's time at home.
