Bearcats Dominate Mustangs

Gordie MacKenzie
The Lady Mustangs made the short drive to Lakeville, CT. to take on Class A power Hotchkiss. Millbrook new they were in for a test, but also welcomed the challenge. Unfortunately for Millbrook, after a mishandled ball in the box, Hotchkiss struck in the first minute and half to take the early lead. Hotchkiss would net a second one four minutes later. Conceding the second goal seemed to wake up the Mustangs as the girls quickly began to put pressure on Hotchkiss's backline. At the 27:35 mark, Suwaitbatu Mohammed '19 cut the deficit in half with her first of the season. Hotchkiss quickly regrouped and put two more past junior keeper Elise Almgren to bring the first half to a close. With the start of the second half, Hotchkiss was awarded a free kick outside the box which they converted on the back post to stretch the lead by 4. With the skill and depth of the Hotchkiss squad, Millbrook's defense was tested often. Beside the exceptional play of Adelaide Armah '19 and new comer, Brysha Schmidt '21 in the backfield, Almgren did her best in goal as she faced a season high 19 shots.

With playing two highly talented teams behind them, the girls look to face long time rival and Class C opponent The Gunnery this Wednesday at home.
